Portobello New Build Tenement

A new residential tenement development in Edinburgh has sparked the interest of thousands after four families pooled together to build the block from scratch. Collectively raising £900,000 they have successfully designed, built and moved in to the new build tenement in Portobello.

Graham + Sibbald’s Residential and Building Surveying teams worked collaboratively to carry out an initial development appraisal for the ecological building society, as well as stage release inspections, valuations and advice.

Graeme Boyd, Associate at Graham + Sibbald, Edinburgh, said: “The project is different from others that we have been involved with, on the residential side of the business in particular. It represents a fantastic use of creativity, cost saving initiatives and use of wasteland. Hopefully the success of this encourages more people to build their own property and explore the different ways of constructing same. At Graham + Sibbald we’re always happy to provide property advice and appraisals, as we have for this tenement, and look forward to working with similar premises in the future.”

We are delighted to see the finished project and wish the families all the very best in their new homes.
